Parchment Paper FAQ

Can You Smoke Parchment Paper?

No, you cannot smoke parchment paper. Parchment paper is either coated in silicone or Teflon, both of which can be harmful if inhaled. Always used papers intended for smoking when rolling up.

Is Wax Paper and Parchment Paper the Same?

No - parchment paper is either coated in Teflon or silicone and is heat resistant. Wax paper is coated in wax, which is not heat resistant (it melts and/or burns). When it comes to dab handling/storage, it’s not recommended to use wax paper - the wax and oils stick together causing waste and/or wax in your dabs. Parchment paper is the best product to use for handling/storing dabs.

How to Get Dabs Off Wax Paper

Put the wax paper with dabs stuck to it in your freezer for a few minutes (5 - 10) - you don’t want it to be rock hard frozen, but those few minutes will help you separate the dabs from the paper. Then, use a dab tool or butter knife to carefully scrape the dabs from the wax paper. Unfortunately, you may scrape off a bit of wax that adheres to your dabs. In general, we always recommend using parchment paper, not wax paper, for dabs.

Does Resin Stick to Parchment Paper?

All dabs, including resin, are moderately to extremely sticky and may stick to even the best parchment paper. For resin, we recommend Teflon-coated parchment paper since it’s a BHO extract. If it ever gets stuck, use a dab tool to scrape it off. If it’s stubborn, pop it in the freezer for 5 - 10 minutes then try scraping again - the resin should come right off.

What Is A Good Parchment Paper Replacement?

Extremely thin silicone baking equipment, like a flexible cutting board or baking sheet, can act similarly to parchment paper (which is often coated in silicone). However, when working with dabs/concentrates, parchment paper is always the best option. Wax paper is not a suitable replacement - the wax and oils in the concentrates stick together.
